Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Active Machines Corp. ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit tribes.zone (the "Website") or use the Tribes mobile application (the "App"). Together, the Website and App are the "Service".

We are committed to handling your personal data responsibly and in compliance with applicable privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies.

Data Controller

Active Machines Corp. is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through the Tribes Service.

For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at hello@tribes.zone.

Information We Collect

Website: When you visit tribes.zone, we and our service providers may automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, referring URL, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for website analytics and performance monitoring. We also load fonts through Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when fonts are requested.

App — Account and profile: When you create an account, we collect information you provide such as your name, email address, profile photo, rider type (e.g., Trail, Adventure, Street), riding style preferences, and any other profile details you choose to add.

App — Location data: To show nearby rides and enable ride creation, we collect precise location data when you use location-based features. You can control location permissions through your device settings.

App — Ride and activity data: We collect information about rides you create or join, including meetup points, routes, start times, participant lists, and rider style filters you apply.

App — Communications: Messages you send in ride chat and other in-app communications are stored to provide the Service.

App — Verification and reputation: We collect data related to peer verification (who vouched for whom) and reputation scores built through riding activity and community engagement.

App — Device and technical data: We may collect your device type, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens to deliver alerts and maintain the App.

Contact email: If you email us at hello@tribes.zone, we receive the information you include in your message.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, operate, and improve the Service; match you with nearby rides and riders based on location and preferences; enable ride chat, push notifications, and community features; support rider verification and reputation systems; respond to your inquiries and support requests; monitor and analyze usage to improve performance and user experience; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

How We Share Information

We share information with service providers who help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers (including Vercel), analytics providers, and — as the App launches — providers for authentication, maps, and push notifications. These providers process data on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Ride information you choose to make visible (such as meetup details and participant status) is shared with other riders on the platform as part of the Service.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Active Machines Corp., our users, or the public.

If Active Machines Corp. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Where we transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or rely on another lawful transfer mechanism.

Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

Chat messages and ride history may be retained for a limited period after account deletion where needed for safety investigations or legal compliance, after which they are deleted or anonymized.

Website analytics data is retained according to our analytics providers' policies, typically in aggregated or anonymized form.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"). Restriction — request that we limit how we use your data. Portability — request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format. Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests. Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@tribes.zone. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days under GDPR). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact hello@tribes.zone.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@tribes.zone and we will delete it promptly.

For our policies on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) and child safety, see our Child Safety Standards at tribes.zone/child-safety.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email where required by law.

We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices.
